Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has hit back at Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo over comments directed at his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Davido responded to Okpebholo during a “VOTE, NOT FIGHT” campaign in Osogbo on Friday, where he also called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure a free and fair election in Osun State.
The singer took particular exception to remarks about Governor Adeleke’s penchant for dancing, questioning why the governor’s dancing should be a subject of criticism.
“Mr Monday Okpebholo, you don see small money now, your voice no dey shake abi again? You’re talking about my governor that all he does is dance. Is there any problem in dancing? Na because you no get talent na. You can talk anyhow,” Davido said.
The singer’s comments come amid heightened political activity in Osun State as Governor Adeleke seeks another term in office.
Davido, who has openly supported his uncle, urged voters to participate peacefully in the election and reiterated his call for a credible electoral process.
The exchange has since generated reactions online, with supporters of both politicians weighing in on Davido’s remarks and the ongoing political contest in Osun State.
