NAPTIP Hunts Man Filmed Beating Toddler In Viral Video

A man has sparked widespread outrage after a video emerged online showing him repeatedly flogging a toddler across the head and body.
In the footage shared on X by @NigeriaStories on Wednesday, the shirtless man, wearing green athletic shorts, appears to flog the child repeatedly on the head with what appears to be a charger cable.
The beating knocks the child onto a tiled floor, where the toddler cries out in distress.
The man continues to flog the child, who uses her hands to cover her head from the wire while crying on the ground.
The man could be heard speaking aggressively to the child and saying, “Ori ẹ o ma pe,” a popular Yoruba expression that is slang for “knocking sense into someone.”
He then bends down to force the crying child back up.

The video has drawn strong public condemnation across social media platforms, with many Nigerians calling for the man’s immediate identification and arrest.

Responding to the viral clip on Wednesday, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons said child abuse would never be tolerated.
“We have noted the viral video and are working with relevant security agencies to identify, locate, and prosecute the perpetrator to the full extent of the law,” NAPTIP said via its X handle.

It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children and ensuring that those responsible for such acts face justice.
