Delta state Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has said that his administration remains committed to youth empowerment and support for young men and women in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state.
Oborevwori said this on Tuesday at the Closing Ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 11 Orientation Course, held at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Issele-Uku.
The governor was represented at the ceremony by the Secretary to the State Governor (SSG) Mr Kingsley Emu.
He assured the corps members that the state remained fully committed to ensuring that their service year is safe, productive, and rewarding.
“We will continue to support the NYSC Scheme through policies, resources, and interventions aimed at enhancing your welfare and enabling you to perform optimally,” he said.
Oborevwori urged them to take advantage of every opportunity available during their service year to learn new skills, innovate, grow personally and professionally, and contribute positively to society.
He urged them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, diligence, discipline, and patriotism as they proceed to their various places of primary assignment.
“Carry with you the ideals and values for which the NYSC scheme is renowned.
“Wherever you are posted, whether in schools, healthcare facilities, government establishments, rural communities, or private organisations, endeavour to make positive and lasting impacts.
“Let your conduct reflect honesty, professionalism, respect for constituted authority, and a genuine commitment to nation-building.
“I also encourage you to embrace the diversity of the communities in which you will serve. Build bridges of friendship, promote peaceful coexistence, and respect the customs and traditions of your host communities.
“Through your interactions and service, you have the opportunity to foster understanding, strengthen national cohesion, and become ambassadors of unity and progress,” he said.
Oborevwore approved a transport allowance of N50,000 for the 2,750 corps members that passed out of the orientation camp.
Mr John Kwange, State Coordinator of the NYSC commended the corps members for their discipline, resilience, and maturity demonstrated throughout the orientation exercise.
“As you proceed to your various places of primary assignment, it is important to implore you to take your postings with open minds and strong sense of purpose.
“Embrace your host communities with humility, respect, and cultural sensitivity, leam from them and serve diligently.
“Also, through the platform of Community Development Service (CDS), identify critical needs, collaborate with community stakeholders, and implement projects that will create lasting impact.”
He urged corps members to strive to leave their host communities better than they met them.
