Billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats star Davido, has revealed the prayers and Bible passages he relied on during his brother Ademola Adeleke’s campaign for re-election as Osun State governor.

Speaking about the election, Adeleke said the victory was not simply a result of financial strength, insisting that he believed divine intervention played a major role in the outcome.

He alleged that his brother’s opponents spent billions of naira attempting to influence voters, claiming that some votes were allegedly bought for as much as N50,000.

“Let Oyetola hear. Let him know the reason why we defeated him. The only reason why we defeated Oyetola is not that we are bigger or that we spent more money than him,” he said.

Adeleke claimed that while he had heard reports of huge sums being spent on the election, he chose to retreat to his room and pray.

“On the day of the election, when I heard the kind of money they were spending, I went back to my little corner in my room, and I knelt down, and I prayed to God. I said, God Almighty, let people collect their money, but let them still vote for Ademola Adeleke,” he said.

The businessman also disclosed that Isaiah 41:10 is among the Bible passages he reads and prays with regularly.

He explained that his strong faith in God has influenced the way he approaches life, saying he does not feel the need to seek validation or compete for access to influential people.

“And this is part of my testimony. The fourth Bible passage that I read every day when I go on my knees to pray is found in Isaiah chapter 41, starting from verse 10,” he said.

Adeleke said his faith has given him confidence and helped him remain calm in situations where others might feel pressured.

“You know that I’m not the reason why I’m not afraid of anything. You know the reason why I am not bothered about anything. Because I believe my belief in God Almighty is very strong,” he added.

He also said he would rather pray privately than chase after powerful individuals or compete with others for their attention.

“That’s why you don’t see me running after people in high places or competing with people to go and visit anyone. I would rather do it in my little corner. I would rather ask God Almighty to help me,” he said.
