Popular actress and reality TV star Caroline Hutchings, formerly known as Caroline Danjuma, has been served with a Notice of Intended Legal Proceedings by Sophia Momodu over an alleged defamatory Snapchat post.
The notice, issued by Prince (Dr.) Richard Oma Ahonaruogho, SAN, Principal Counsel at Ahonaruogho, Ahonaruogho & Co. (Paradise Law Firm), alleges that a Snapchat post shared by Caroline was widely interpreted by members of the public as referring to Sophia Momodu, despite not mentioning her by name.
According to the notice, the post sparked widespread speculation across social media, with many users identifying Sophia as the subject of the publication. Her legal team claims the resulting online discussions exposed her to cyberbullying, ridicule, malicious comments and reputational damage, causing emotional distress and embarrassment.
The notice further states that, in a bid to resolve the matter without litigation, Sophia Momodu personally contacted Caroline on July 3, 2026, requesting that if the post was not about her, she should publicly clarify this on the same platform.
However, the lawyers allege that Caroline neither responded to the message nor issued any clarification, allowing the speculation to persist.
As a result, Sophia Momodu’s legal team is demanding that Caroline:
* Publish an unequivocal retraction and an unreserved public apology across all her social media platforms.
* Publish the same apology in national newspapers with nationwide circulation.
* Pay ₦10 billion in compensation for the alleged reputational harm, emotional distress and embarrassment caused by the publication.
* Provide a written undertaking that she will refrain from making or publishing any statement capable of directly or indirectly defaming Sophia Momodu in the future.
As of the time of this report, Caroline Hutchings has not publicly responded to the legal notice or the allegations contained in it.
