Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has accused the Nigerian government of neglecting the South East in the distribution of major infrastructure projects across the country.

The cleric expressed concern over what he described as unequal access to key facilities, including international airports, seaports and embassies, arguing that the South East had not received infrastructure comparable to that of other regions.

“Business people is Igbo people. Nigeria has done a lot of damages to Igbo people,” Odumeje said.

He also questioned the reported plan to establish another seaport in Ogun State, arguing that the Igbo people’s reputation for business and commerce should be reflected in infrastructure development across the South East.

“Seaport was signed for Lagos. The seaport signed by federal government. Even I think there’s a new one that the new government to sign now. Ogun State. Why are they signing it in Ogun State? Ogun State, are they business people?” he asked.

Odumeje further challenged the older generation to consider what they would leave behind for their children, urging them to speak up for their rights and future.

“We are fathers. We are no more boys, and we can’t live here forever, and our children will question us: What have we done for their rights?” he said.

His comments have drawn attention to longstanding concerns about infrastructure distribution and regional development in Nigeria, particularly calls for greater federal investment in the South East.

The cleric’s claims about the region’s access to major facilities reflect his assessment of the situation. The extent of infrastructure provision and the distribution of federal projects would require a comparison of existing facilities and ongoing projects across the regions.
