The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has dismissed reports claiming that Hope Uzodinma was removed as chairman of the forum, describing the reports as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Director General of the forum, Folorunso Aluko, said no meeting was held to remove the Imo State governor and insisted that Uzodinma remains the chairman of the body.
“The attention of the Progressive Governors Forum has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating in some media platforms alleging the removal of its Chairman, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON,” the statement said.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Progressive Governors Forum states categorically that the report is entirely false, baseless, and without an iota of truth.”
According to the forum, its secretariat has no knowledge of any resolution removing Uzodinma from office.
“The PGF secretariat has no record of, and is not aware of, any resolution removing the Chairman. His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, remains the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum,” the statement added.
The forum urged members of the public and the media to disregard the reports, maintaining that the body remains united and focused on its responsibilities.
Uzodinma currently chairs the PGF, which is made up of governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
