A baby who was reportedly stolen at birth and sold has been successfully rescued by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) under the leadership of ACP Victor.

According to social commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, the child’s biological mother visited his office (MVOI) on April 25, 2026, where she narrated her ordeal. He then accompanied her to the STS Police Station in Guzzape, where the case was formally reported to the Commander of STS, ACP Victor.

VeryDarkMan stated that ACP Victor took immediate interest in the case, leading to the drafting of a petition which was subsequently approved by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (DIG FID).

Following the approval, operatives of the STS reportedly moved to Imo State on April 26, where one suspect was arrested. The suspect was later transferred to Abuja for further investigation on April 27.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed that a lawyer paid the sum of ₦4.5 million for the baby. Acting on this confession, police operatives proceeded to Lagos State, where the said lawyer was arrested and the baby was rescued. The suspects were later brought to Abuja for further processing.

VeryDarkMan confirmed that the child was officially handed over to the biological mother at the STS headquarters in Abuja on the evening of April 27, 2026.
In the background of the handover, two women identified as alleged traffickers were seen. Authorities stated that they will be charged to court and prosecuted accordingly.

VeryDarkMan also announced personal support plans for the family, including a commitment to place the mother on a monthly salary to help her care for the child. He further pledged to sponsor the education of her son up to university level.
Authorities say investigations are still ongoing as the case moves toward prosecution.
