“Instead of Using Our Brains, We’ll Go to Church”— VeryDarkMan Challenges Arome Osayi Over Nigeria’s ‘Calling’ for Revival

Social media activist VeryDarkMan has challenged Apostle Arome Osayi over his recent claim that Nigeria’s calling as a nation is spiritual revival, arguing that the country needs to focus more on technology, innovation and practical solutions.

Osayi, founder of the Remnant Christian Network, had said during a recent teaching that Nigeria was not primarily called to replicate the industrial achievements of countries such as China but to serve as a source of spiritual revival for other nations.

Reacting to the cleric’s position, VeryDarkMan argued that an excessive focus on prayer and divine intervention could distract Nigerians from using their skills and ideas to address the country’s challenges.

“It is this kind of preaching that put Nigeria where it is today,” he said.

The activist also criticised the role of religious institutions in Nigeria’s development, claiming that talented Nigerians are sometimes encouraged to pray for breakthroughs instead of developing practical solutions.

“The people that are meant to be innovative and creative are praying every day for a miracle,” VeryDarkMan stated.

He pointed to the technological progress recorded in other countries, arguing that Nigerians have the intellectual capacity to achieve similar results if more attention is given to innovation and problem solving.

“These nations that we look up to have the same brain like us. But instead of us to use our own brains, we’ll go to church,” he said.

VeryDarkMan further accused religious leaders of benefiting from a system in which followers are encouraged to concentrate on religious activities and financial giving. He directed the criticism at Osayi, questioning the cleric’s emphasis on Nigeria’s spiritual calling.

“That is why morons like this… I’ll call him a moron, can use you people,” he said.

Turning directly to Osayi, he challenged the cleric over his statement that Nigeria’s calling is revival.

“Osayi Arome, oga sir, you said the calling of Nigeria is revival, are you not mad?” VeryDarkMan asked.

He also referenced Osayi’s comments about Nigerians comparing the country with nations that have developed advanced technology and questioned what he described as the dismissal of such achievements.

“That they should not be talking about Nigeria and showing engines. So na we you dey throw sub,” he added.

VeryDarkMan defended Nigerians who travel abroad to learn from technological advancements, arguing that such exposure can help Nigerians understand what is possible and bring useful knowledge back home.

“We wey dey travel dey show Nigerians say this is innovation and what creativity has done for their nation,” he said.

He further cited Nigerians who sponsor others to travel to countries such as China to acquire technical knowledge, which he said could eventually be applied towards developing Nigeria.

“We wey dey sponsor people come China make them come build Nigeria, we no know wetin we dey do,” he added.
