Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Sule, has approved the immediate payment of minimum wage to the legislature staff of the State House of Assembly.
Speaker of the state assembly, Hon. Danladi Jatau disclosed this during a meeting with officials of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) yesterday in Lafia.
Hon. Jatau said he decided to call for the meeting in order to appeal to the PASAN officials to suspend its planned strike scheduled for today, over nonpayment of minimum wage to their members.

According to him, minimum wage is constitutional, and wage was approved by the State Government.
Hon. Jatau appreciated PASAN for their cooperation and support to his leadership and called for its sustenance.
On his part, Special Adviser to Gov Sule on State Assembly Liaison, Hon. Mohammed Ibrahim Alkali, appreciated the Speaker for his courage to call for the meeting.
Hon. Alkali said that the Governor is willing to pay the minimum wage to the legislative staff and has directed for immediate actions.

Responding, Comrade Suleiman Oshafu, the PASAN Chairman appreciated the Speaker for the quick action said the union would not said no to the Speaker’s plead for the suspension of the strike but a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) should be signed between the union and government on the matter.
Oshafu also appealed for the payment of four months arrears.
Recall that PASAN had announced on April 10 its plan to embark on an indefinite strike on April 16th over the non-payment of the N70,000 national minimum wage by the State Government.
