American singer T Pain has sued Konvict Entertainment, the record label founded by Akon, accusing the company of withholding nearly half a million dollars in royalties allegedly owed to him.
Court documents filed at the Fulton County Superior Court show that T Pain is seeking $489,047 from the label, which he claims remains unpaid from royalties generated by his music catalogue during the second half of 2025.
According to the lawsuit, a music distributor paid Konvict Entertainment more than $1.3 million in royalties in March, covering earnings generated from T Pain’s catalogue.
Under the terms of his existing agreements with the label, T Pain claims he is entitled to 75 per cent of the net royalties generated from the sales and exploitation of his recordings.
The singer alleges that Konvict subsequently paid him $489,047 in June. However, he maintains that an identical amount remained outstanding.
T Pain says that when he attempted to recover the alleged balance, Konvict directed him to seek the remaining funds from its affiliate company, BuVision.
His representatives reportedly contacted BuVision in an effort to recover the money, but the attempts were unsuccessful, according to the lawsuit.
The legal action marks another chapter in T Pain’s long running dispute with Konvict Entertainment over royalty payments.
The singer previously sued the label in 2018 over similar royalty concerns. That case, however, did not result in a verdict.
The latest lawsuit now puts the spotlight on the financial arrangements between T Pain and Konvict Entertainment, with the singer seeking to recover the $489,047 he alleges remains unpaid.
The claims contained in the lawsuit are allegations and have not been established by a court.
