Air Peace Blames Weather, Bird Strike, Fuel Delays for Flight Disruptions, Apologises to Passengers

Air Peace has apologised to passengers over widespread flight delays and cancellations in recent days, attributing the disruptions to a combination of adverse weather, a bird strike, technical issues, a false fire alarm, and delays in the supply of aviation fuel.

The airline said it was taking immediate measures to stabilise its operations and strengthen contingency arrangements, while insisting that it would not compromise passenger safety simply to maintain scheduled departure times.

In a statement signed by its Chief Operating Officer, Oluwatoyin Olajide, Air Peace acknowledged the inconvenience suffered by passengers whose journeys were delayed, cancelled, or otherwise disrupted.

“The Management of Air Peace sincerely apologises to all passengers who have been affected by the delays and cancellations experienced across some of our operations in recent days,” the airline said.

“We understand the frustration and inconvenience these have caused and deeply regret the disruptions to your travel plans.”

Giving details of the operational challenges, Air Peace said one of its aircraft was grounded following what turned out to be an inadvertent false fire alarm, while another was taken out of service for several days after suffering a bird strike.

The airline said adverse weather also forced some flights to be diverted, delayed, or cancelled outright, while technical issues on some aircraft necessitated mandatory safety checks and maintenance.

It added that delays in the availability of aviation fuel contributed to disruptions in some cases.

Air Peace acknowledged that although several of the factors were beyond its immediate control, passengers ultimately bore the consequences through missed schedules and disrupted travel plans.

It said its immediate priority was therefore to manage the challenges responsibly, minimise their impact, and ensure passengers were not unnecessarily left to deal with the consequences of operational difficulties.

The airline, however, stressed that safety considerations would continue to override pressure to operate flights according to schedule.

“Air Peace will never compromise safety in an attempt to keep to a schedule,” the company declared.

According to the airline, no aircraft would be released for commercial service until its technical teams had completed all required procedures and were satisfied that it was safe to fly.

It said whenever weather conditions, technical concerns, bird strikes, or other safety-related circumstances required an aircraft to remain grounded, the safety decision would take precedence over operational convenience.

Against the backdrop of the recent disruptions, Air Peace said it had begun taking steps to stabilise its operations, improve contingency measures, and strengthen communication and responsiveness to passengers whenever unforeseen problems occurred.

The carrier reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, dependable, and increasingly seamless air travel, saying it recognised the need to continually earn the confidence of the travelling public.

“To every passenger who has been inconvenienced, kept waiting, had a journey disrupted, or had to rearrange important plans because of these operational challenges, we sincerely apologise,” Olajide said.

Air Peace also thanked its passengers for their patience and understanding, pledging to improve reliability and deliver the quality of service expected of the airline.
