After weeks of constant online clashes and back to back controversies, social media commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, appears to be stepping away from the spotlight.
In a recent statement, the 32 year old suggested that the backlash surrounding his frequent videos may not be as organic as it seems. According to him, the criticism is part of a broader political distraction, one designed to shift focus away from pressing national issues and the need to hold the government accountable ahead of upcoming elections.
Taking what many see as an unexpected turn, he announced his decision to take a break from social media. His reason? To avoid becoming part of the very distraction he believes is being orchestrated.
He further stated that he is giving Nigerian youths until the end of April to organise themselves, strategise, and focus on meaningful action toward accountability and reform, without his voice dominating the conversation.
The move has sparked mixed reactions.
Some view it as a strategic withdrawal.
Others see it as ironic, given his central role in shaping online narratives.
