Lola Omotayo, wife of Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, has broken her silence after Nigerians apologised to her over years of accusations that she was responsible for the prolonged rift between the P-Square brothers.
Omotayo had, over the years, been accused of causing the dispute between the twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye, with some alleging that tensions began after Peter married her.
The long standing perception surrounding Omotayo’s alleged role in the family dispute has, however, come under fresh scrutiny following recent allegations made by Peter against his twin brother, Paul, and their elder brother, Jude Okoye.
The development followed a recent exchange between Peter and Paul after the latter appeared to shade his twin over his comments about Nigerian languages.
Peter subsequently took to Instagram to accuse Paul and Jude of contributing to the division within P-Square.
In a series of videos and documents shared on his Instagram page, Peter alleged that Paul and Jude diverted royalties belonging to P-Square, claiming that the funds, reportedly worth millions of dollars, were moved into a company account owned by Jude and his wife, Ifeoma.
The allegations triggered renewed discussions on social media about the history of the P-Square dispute, with several Nigerians revisiting their previous accusations against Omotayo.
Many users subsequently apologised to her, with some tagging her and sharing her pictures while praising her for remaining supportive of Peter throughout the years.
Speaking publicly about the development for the first time on Monday, Omotayo shared a message on Instagram urging women not to allow public opinion to determine their worth.
She also expressed appreciation to those who had celebrated her for standing by Peter amid the ongoing family crisis.
Omotayo wrote:
“To every woman, you are strong, capable, and worthy of every dream in your heart. You are the complete package. Never allow fear, failure, or the opinions of others to define you.
“Believe in yourself, your voice, embrace your journey, and keep moving forward. Say to yourself: I can’t look away from my responsibilities. I can’t look away from my strength as a woman.
“I can’t look away from the wisdom in my mind, the depth of my soul, or the purpose within my heart. I love you all.”
Her message comes amid renewed public attention on the long running dispute between the P-Square brothers, following Peter’s recent allegations against Paul and Jude.
The controversy has also prompted Nigerians to reconsider the years of speculation surrounding Omotayo’s alleged involvement in the brothers’ feud.
