Social media activist VeryDarkMan has reacted after the Nigerian Police invited him to provide evidence supporting his allegation that some police officers aid kidnapping and insecurity in the country.
VDM said he would honour the invitation when the time comes but maintained that he would not submit his evidence to the police, insisting that he would present it in court if charged.
“My lawyers are on the ground. Nigerians, I can see a lot of you celebrating that I’ll be arrested. It’s crazy,” he said.
The activist also accused the police of focusing on his allegation against some officers while ignoring his comments about the poor welfare and remuneration of members of the force.
He argued that improving the welfare of police officers is essential to strengthening security across Nigeria.
“There’s no welfare for the Nigerian police. If you want Nigeria’s security to be tightened, you have to take care of our policemen,” he said.
VDM, however, maintained that he was prepared to face the authorities over his comments.
“I’ll be waiting for the police when the time comes. Let’s meet in court,” he added.
