Veteran actor Jide Kosoko has appealed to fans, colleagues and well-wishers offering assistance to ailing actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, to understand why the veteran actor cannot be moved from his current hospital for spiritual assistance or alternative treatment.
Kosoko made the appeal in a statement on Wednesday, August 19, as support continues to pour in for Ogogo, who is currently receiving treatment for cancer.
He acknowledged the overwhelming number of people who have reached out with offers to help, revealing that more than 300 and possibly over 500 people have expressed their willingness to assist.
“We have received offers from more than 300, and even over 500, people, each sincerely believing that they have something that could help him,” Kosoko said.
However, he explained that moving Ogogo from the hospital at this stage of his treatment could be extremely difficult, particularly given his condition and the number of people seeking to assist.
“The challenge is simply: Where do we take him to? And how do we move him from the hospital while he is receiving care?” he asked.
Kosoko therefore urged those who have offered spiritual assistance or treatment not to interpret the family’s inability to bring Ogogo to them as a rejection of their support.
“Please do not feel offended if we are unable to bring Ogogo to you for spiritual assistance or treatment,” he said.
He also appealed to the public to continue praying for the veteran actor, expressing hope that he would recover from his current condition.
“We appeal to everyone not to stop praying for Ogogo. We believe strongly that, with your prayers, our prayers, and the mercy of Almighty God, he will come out of this situation successfully,” Kosoko added.
He stressed that the family appreciates the concern and intentions of everyone who has reached out during the difficult period.
“Please understand that our inability to bring him to anyone does not mean that we do not appreciate you, nor does it mean that we doubt your intentions or your desire to help,” he said.
