Nollywood actress DorisOgala has described hergovernorship race as a “divine mandate” and criticising the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
Speaking during a television appearance, Ogala expressed confidence that she would become the next governor of the state, insisting that nothing would stop her ambition.
“My call to come and save my people is a divine mandate. I will be the next governor of Abia State. Nothing is going to stop it,” she said.
Ogala, who claimed to have spent about three months in Abia, also criticised the state’s infrastructure and electricity situation, saying she had experienced the challenges residents face firsthand.
“I have been in Abia for three good months. No lights. I sleep in my family’s house. I don’t have lights. I can tell you that this present government has done nothing,” she said.
She further challenged Governor Alex Otti over the ownership and construction of facilities at Ariaria International Market in Aba.
According to Ogala, the A-Line section of the market was constructed during the administration in which she claimed she served.
“I can tell you for a fact that A-Line in Ariaria was built by Ibarzu with the lift. I’m saying this on national TV. I dare the governor to challenge me. He didn’t build Ariaria,” she alleged.
Ogala claimed that the A-Line was built by Ibarzu during the tenure of former Abia State administration, adding that John Oki was commissioner at the time.
“The only place built in Ariaria is A-Line. And it was built by Ibarzu. John Oki was the commissioner then. I was part of the government,” she said.
Her declaration marks a major shift from her career in Nollywood into active politics, while her criticism of the Otti administration is likely to generate further reactions in Abia’s political space.
