Popular content creator Shank has ignited conversations on social media after sharing a candid opinion about the mindset of the average Nigerian, arguing that years of economic hardship and the struggle to survive have shaped how many people relate to one another.

In a post on his social media page, Shank suggested that the country’s difficult environment has conditioned many Nigerians to see life as a constant battle where outsmarting others is celebrated.

“An average Nigerian is not a good person. The environment has wired everyone to survive, whichever way it takes. It’s sad, but that’s the truth.”

According to him, many people now see taking advantage of others as a sign of intelligence rather than something to be ashamed of.

“An average Nigerian feels smart when they cheat the other person. ‘I use am for am.’ It’s sad. God help us all.”

Shank further argued that the country’s prolonged social and economic challenges have left deep psychological scars, making everyday interactions feel like a struggle for survival.

“It’s embedded in our subconscious. Everything feels like war. The country has scarred us.”

He concluded by urging Nigerians to reject the mindset that personal success must come at another person’s expense.

“You don’t have to hurt the next person to grow or win.”
