Award-winning Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has opened up about how years of dedication, consistency, and success have earned her the freedom to choose who she works with, saying she no longer feels pressured to seek anyone’s approval to thrive in the movie industry.
Speaking during a recent interview, the actress said she has reached a point in her career where she can confidently decide the projects she wants to take on and the people she wants to collaborate with.
“I can’t kiss anybody’s ass anymore because God has blessed me with a platform where I can decide who I want to work with,” she said.
Abraham explained that her remarks were not driven by arrogance but by gratitude for the opportunities she has built through years of hard work. According to her, the success she enjoys today has given her the independence to make career decisions without compromising her values or dignity.
She noted that she no longer believes in chasing validation or forcing professional relationships, adding that she prefers working with people who genuinely value her talent and share her creative vision.
The actress also spoke about her marriage to fellow actor **Kolawole Ajeyemi**, describing him as a supportive partner who has always encouraged her to flourish professionally.
“My husband is not romantic. But he allows me to be the best version of myself. He allows me to do what brings my acting career to life,” she said.
Toyin added that trust has remained one of the strongest pillars of their marriage, especially given the nature of their profession, where actors often play intimate roles on screen.
