The Service of Songs for late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo was held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Monarch Event Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, drawing an outpouring of grief, tributes, and support from colleagues, friends, and well wishers.

The solemn event was attended by several prominent figures in the entertainment industry, alongside leading Christian clerics, including Jerry Eze and his wife, Pastor Eno Jerry, Nathaniel Bassey, and Ituah Ighodalo.

Although the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, was unable to attend the event as earlier hoped, his message of condolence and support was conveyed by Pastor Eno Jerry.

Speaking on behalf of the governor, she disclosed that Otti was deeply shocked by the news of the actor’s passing and has pledged support to ensure a smooth experience for mourners travelling to Abia State for the final burial rites.

According to her, the governor has already directed efforts toward improving access to the late actor’s hometown by repairing roads leading to the community and making them motorable for visitors expected to attend the burial.

Pastor Eno Jerry also conveyed Governor Otti’s heartfelt condolences to Alex Ekubo’s widow, Anwuli Amakom Ekubo, and the entire Ekubo family during the difficult period.

The gathering was marked by emotional tributes, prayers, and reflections on the life and legacy of the late actor, whose death has continued to generate widespread reactions across Nigeria’s entertainment industry and beyond.
