Nigerian singer BNXN has sparked debate on social media after claiming that living in Lagos can be more expensive than living in Los Angeles, one of the most prominent cities in the United States.
Speaking about his experiences abroad, the singer contrasted the cost of daily living in both cities, arguing that expenses in Lagos can be surprisingly high and often unpredictable.
According to BNXN, one noticeable difference is the frequency with which people request financial assistance in Nigeria, a situation he said he has not encountered during his stay in the United States.
“Since I’ve been in America, nobody has asked me to give them money back,” he remarked.
The singer went on to insist that Lagos is “super expensive,” maintaining that the Nigerian commercial hub can cost more to live in than Los Angeles in several respects.
While acknowledging that Los Angeles has its own financial demands, BNXN noted that housing remains the city’s biggest expense, claiming that rent in prime locations can reach as much as $12,000 per month.
