Fresh twists have emerged in the growing family crisis surrounding Big Brother Naija All Stars winner, Ilebaye Odiniya, after her mother, Lami, tearfully dismissed allegations by her ex-husband that the reality TV star is involved in drug use and negatively influenced her younger brother.
The emotional outburst followed a viral voice recording allegedly made by Ilebaye’s father, Emmanuel Odiniya, in which he accused the BBNaija star of introducing harmful substances to her younger brother, leading to the boy’s reported expulsion from school. He also claimed that Ilebaye once encouraged him to divorce her mother.
Reacting emotionally during an interview with a news outlet, Ms. Lami described the allegations as false and malicious, insisting that her daughter has never used drugs or exposed her siblings to such behaviour.
“Ilebaye is not on drugs and she did not introduce her brothers to drugs. My not being in the house is because of the emotional abuse from the father always. We have been abused constantly in that house. Ilebaye is going through a lot, emotional abuse from the father. She is not on drugs,” she said through tears.
The distraught mother suggested that the allegations were deliberately timed to shift public attention away from disturbing videos that recently surfaced online showing the reality star with what appeared to be injuries and a swollen face following an alleged altercation at her father’s residence on 9 May.
Ms. Lami said she remains traumatised by the public family feud, particularly the spectacle of a father publicly accusing his own daughter while, according to her, ignoring allegations of abuse that sparked outrage on social media.
