Following the May Day celebrity boxing spectacle between controversial musician Portable and online streamer Carter Efe, reactions have continued to pour in from across the entertainment scene, with opinions ranging from congratulatory to mildly theatrical.
Gospel artiste Testimony Jaga wasted no time in applauding Carter Efe’s victory, while offering what could pass as post-fight counsel to Portable. In his remarks, he advised the street-hop singer to invest more in training ahead of future bouts, and perhaps rely less on what he described as “voodoo confidence” and street reputation, neither of which appeared to hold up in the ring.
Not to be left out of the conversation, veteran comedian Ayo Makun, on Sunday, May 2, 2026, struck a tone of comic relief mixed with divine gratitude. The entertainer revealed that he had once considered stepping into the ring with Carter Efe following a missed content shoot. However, after witnessing Portable’s fate, AY has since revised his ambitions, calling on Nigerians to join him in thanking God for what he now describes as “deliverance from a self-inflicted disaster.”
Meanwhile, fellow comedian Akpororo took to Instagram to deliver a characteristically animated breakdown of the bout. In his usual high-energy fashion, he not only dissected the match but also proposed a new frontier for celebrity clashes, urging organisers to consider a comedians-only edition.
Given the current trajectory of entertainment in the country, that suggestion may not be as far-fetched as it sounds.
