The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has initiated a sweeping reorganisation of the Nigeria Police Force, placing a senior officer in charge of federal operations while ordering a nationwide redeployment of top-ranking officers in a bid to strengthen command efficiency and operational effectiveness.

At the heart of the shake-up is the posting of AIG Miller G. Dantawaye to head the Force Operations Department, effectively putting him in charge of coordinating federal-level police operations across the country.

The extensive reshuffle, announced in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, is part of what the police high command described as an ongoing effort to reinforce the Force’s structure, reposition its leadership architecture, and ensure optimal deployment of personnel.

Under the new postings, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) were assigned to strategic departments at Force Headquarters and key zonal commands. AIG Ado Emmanuel was deployed to Research and Planning, while AIG Joseph Eribo takes over Armament. AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche was posted to Training and Development, and AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo to the Police Affairs Branch.

Other notable deployments include AIG Dahiru Mohammed to Zone 15, Maiduguri; AIG Dankombo F. Morris to Zone 4, Makurdi; AIG Bello Shehu to Zone 14, Katsina; and AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh to Zone 2, Lagos.

In a move seen as reinforcing grassroots security engagement, AIG Ahmed Musa was appointed to head the Community Policing Department, a critical unit in the Force’s strategy to deepen collaboration with local communities.

The shake-up also extended to Commissioners of Police (CPs), with multiple redeployments across state commands and specialised units. CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed was posted to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while CP Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai takes charge in Lagos. CP Olubode Ojajuni moves to Ogun State, and CP Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola to Oyo State Command.

Other postings include CP Yakubu Useni Dankaro to Adamawa, CP Morkwap S. Dongshal to Taraba, CP Ahmed Mohammed Bello to Zamfara, CP Umar Ali Fagge to Katsina, and CP Hayatu Shaffa Hassan to Sokoto.

At Force Headquarters and specialised formations, CP Akan Ezima was appointed Director of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), Abuja, while CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue was deployed to INTERPOL, Abuja. CP Moses Ashu Otta takes over SWAT operations in Abuja, and CP Mnwadiogbu Cletus was posted to the Police Academy as Deputy Commandant.

Other strategic units affected include the Special Protection Unit, Eastern Ports Authority, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) annexes in Lagos and Kaduna, and the Police College, Ikeja.

The IGP charged all affected officers to bring their experience and professionalism to bear in their new assignments, emphasizing discipline, accountability, and commitment to service.

Police authorities say the latest redeployments reflect a broader effort by the Disu-led command to recalibrate the Force’s operational strategy, tighten central coordination, and enhance responsiveness to emerging security challenges nationwide.
