…Suspected Terrorists Strike Again,Days After Deadly Attack
…Bandits Bomb Key Bridge in Neighbouring Niger

Fresh tragedy has struck Kwara State following a suspected bomb explosion in Woro community, Kaiama Local Government Area, with many residents feared dead in the latest wave of violence to hit the area.
The explosion, which occurred on Monday, has heightened tension across the community, coming barely weeks after a deadly assault in the same area.
Although no group has officially claimed responsibility, residents believe the improvised explosive device (IED) may have been detonated by suspected Boko Haram terrorists operating in the region.
The latest incident follows a similar attack last month in Woro and neighbouring Nuku communities, where at least 75 persons were reportedly killed and several homes razed by suspected terrorists.
In response to the earlier killings, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had ordered the deployment of a military battalion to the affected area in a bid to restore order and prevent further attacks.
However, as of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued by authorities regarding the latest explosion, while attempts to reach the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, were unsuccessful.
The renewed violence has deepened fears among residents, who say the situation is worsening despite increased military presence.
Meanwhile, in neighbouring Niger State, suspected bandits have escalated attacks on critical infrastructure, bombing a major bridge linking Wawa and Luma communities in Borgu Local Government Area.
The early morning attack, carried out with explosive devices, destroyed the only access route connecting the affected communities, effectively cutting off movement and disrupting economic activities.
The damaged bridge also serves as a key link to the popular Babanna border market, which holds every Monday, forcing traders and buyers to suspend activities due to the destruction.
A local source described the incident as devastating, noting that the bridge plays a crucial role in trade and social interaction across the area.
Residents have appealed to both federal and state authorities to urgently reconstruct the bridge to restore movement and revive economic life.
Confirming the attack, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the incident was reported on 23 March 2026.
“On 23rd March 2026, at about 6:30 a.m., a report was received indicating that at about 2:00 a.m. of the same date, suspected terrorists within the park forest used explosive devices to bomb a bridge located along Luma road in Borgu LGA, connecting Luma–Babanna–Agwara communities,” he said.
Abiodun added that the destruction appeared to be a deliberate attempt to undermine ongoing security operations in the area.
He, however, assured that security agencies have intensified clearance operations, with continuous monitoring to ensure the safety of residents and restoration of order.
The twin incidents in Kwara and Niger states underscore growing security concerns in parts of the North Central region, where communities continue to grapple with recurring attacks, loss of lives, and destruction of critical infrastructure.
