It appears to be a season of peace, as Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been released from police custody and publicly tendered a heartfelt apology to fellow actress Mercy Johnson on 4 February.
In her statement, Angela admitted that the allegations she had previously made against Mercy Johnson and her children were based on information passed to her by others. She explained that with growth and maturity comes discernment, noting that she has learnt to ignore ‘the noise of the market’.
Extending an olive branch, Angela described Mercy Johnson as a friend and expressed her desire for that friendship to continue. She also offered a sincere apology for any distress her words may have caused Mercy’s children.
For many observers, the moment marked a hopeful turn—one that replaces conflict with reflection, accountability and the possibility of restored peace.
