For days*, timelines were held hostage as words flew between music superstar Oladayo Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, and Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, with Wizkid FC supplying the usual background noise, emojis, and digital ammunition.

Then, just when it seemed the drama might spill into week two, Seun Kuti called time.

According to the Afrobeat singer, his mission had been accomplished. In his words, the “misinformation” had done its job: successfully drawing Wizkid out of what he described as a hiding place, only for the Starboy to publicly crown himself greater than Fela. At that moment, Seun appeared satisfied. Curtain drawn. Point made, but not without a final jab.

Seun Kuti went further, advising Wizkid to stop allegedly bankrolling gullible Nigerian youths to harass people online, stir chaos, and manufacture buzz, all in the name of selling out a show. A not-so-subtle reminder that controversy, when recycled too often, begins to smell less like art and more like strategy.

“You are not qualified enough for me to ever engage you again,” Seun declared, to ‘Wizkid FC’, before dramatically pressing the End Live button, an action that felt less like a mic drop.
Wooosh! What a week.
