…Says Jonathan’s Return Will Be APC’s Day of Reckoning
…Claims Ruling Party a ‘Structure of Darkness’

Political Scholar and Former National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Dr. Udenta Udenta, has declared that the political landscape in Nigeria could shift dramatically if former President Goodluck Jonathan decides to contest the 2027 elections, warning that such a move would trigger panic within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in Abuja yesterday, Udenta described Jonathan’s potential candidacy as a decisive factor that could transform the next general elections into a referendum on Nigeria’s survival.

“That panic is that 2027 will be a day of reckoning. That becomes more acute if Jonathan contests that election,” Udenta said.

The outspoken political activist, who was reacting to widespread discontent over poor living conditions, launched a blistering attack on the APC, which he branded a “structure of darkness” doomed to collapse. According to him, the ruling party has systematically undermined democratic institutions to maintain its grip on power.

“INEC has become a weapon in the hands of APC, used to legitimise electoral robbery and violence,” he alleged, further accusing the judiciary of complicity in sustaining what he called “a catastrophic style of governance.”

Udenta maintained that only a united opposition could prevent APC from “destroying the country beyond recognition.” He urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) to forge a coalition ahead of 2027, insisting that a fragmented opposition would only strengthen the ruling party’s dominance.

“What APC has done is to collapse the economy, collapse security, collapse cohesion, and collapse legitimacy,” he said, adding that Nigerians were desperate for credible alternatives.

“The people are waiting, the people are watching, the people are suffering. This country cannot continue like this,” he stressed.

Udenta concluded by warning that 2027 would not be an ordinary election but a defining battle for Nigeria’s future. “It is the soul of the country that will be contested,” he declared.
