The Oyo State Police Command has uncovered a human trafficking operation in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
During the raid, police rescued 83 people, including a child, who had been held captive.
The victims were found in a house located in the Orogun area of Ibadan.
According to a statement from the police, the rescued individuals are believed to be from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The report said they had been kept there for an unknown length of time.
They were allegedly brought to Nigeria with false promises of job opportunities.
It was also revealed that the traffickers collected large amounts of money in dollars from the victims’ families as part of the deceit.
At the moment, the rescued victims are being kept at the Police Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan. The police have continued their investigation to uncover more details about the case.
