The Nasarawa State Football Association has said that all the players selected by Nasarawa United for the Federation Cup round of 16 game against Bayelsa United in Ayingba were dully registered.
After losing the round of 16 game to Nasarawa United in Ayingba, Bayelsa United filed a protest listing Detan Ogundare, Emeka Onyema, Ugochukwu Leonard, Solomon Chigozie and Benjamin Jack as ineligible for the tie.
But speaking after a brief meeting in Lafia, Nasarawa State FA Secretary, Miss Blessing David debunked Bayelsa United’s stance claiming all registration were duly done.
“We want to state categorically that these players are duly registered with the state FA before the commencement of the stae FA cup”.
“As the custodians of football in the state, the Football Federation sent a circular for the closure of the online registration for the 30th of November 2024”.
“Nasarawa United acquired several players from other clubs after proper discussions and the necessary understanding between the parties involved, Nasarawa United was convinced that come the appropriate window for transfer of players, these acquired players would move to Lafia for the appropriate agreements,” the association said in a statement signed by its Director of Communications, Adams Jesse Odoba-Yacham.
