Nollywood actress and filmmaker Carolyna Hutchings has announced her departure from The Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOL), signalling a return to what she describes as the core of her career: filmmaking, acting and storytelling.

Hutchings made the announcement in a statement shared on social media, reflecting on her more than two decades in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

According to the actress, her career existed long before reality television, with credits spanning acting, producing and storytelling. She said she has worked on more than 60 movies and currently has 10 projects in the pipeline through Afrivista Films.

“Before RHOL, there was Carolyna the actress. Carolyna the producer. Carolyna the storyteller,” she wrote.

She explained that while reality television allowed audiences to connect with another side of her, she does not want the platform to define her professional identity.

“I have entertained you through RHOL just as I have entertained you through the many movies I have been privileged to be part of. But reality television is one chapter, not the definition of my career or my reality,” she said.

Hutchings subsequently confirmed that she was officially closing the chapter and returning her focus to filmmaking and acting.

“Now, back to what I have always been: a filmmaker, an actress and a storyteller,” she stated.

She also thanked viewers and supporters for the experiences shared throughout her time on the reality show.

“RHOL was a chapter. Carolyna is the story. And the story continues,” she concluded.
