Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died following a battle with stage four cancer.

His daughter, Kira Taiwo, announced his death on Sunday evening during a live session on Instagram.

The news comes just days after Kira publicly revealed that her father had been diagnosed with stage four cancer and made an emotional appeal for help in securing treatment for him.

Ogogo was a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry, particularly within the Yoruba movie scene, where he built a respected career spanning several decades.

Before his death, there were reported efforts to secure medical assistance for the actor as news of his condition prompted an outpouring of concern from fans, colleagues and well wishers.

Among those reported to have offered financial assistance was the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Adeola Olamilekan, popularly known as Yayi.

Ogogo’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief across the Nigerian entertainment industry, with fans and colleagues mourning the loss of one of the veteran faces of Yoruba Nollywood.
