Afrobeats superstar Davido has urged Nigeria’s biggest music stars to prioritise performing at home, expressing concern over what he described as a decline in demand for Nigerian artistes in international markets.

Speaking during an appearance on The Uncut Podcast, Davido reflected on the changing fortunes of Nigerian musicians performing in the United Kingdom and the United States.

The singer said he hopes to see some of the country’s veteran artistes return to Nigeria over the next decade, suggesting that repeated performances abroad may have made some international audiences less enthusiastic about their shows.

“In the next 10 years, I want the music OGs to come back to Nigeria. There is already ‘see finish’ in London, America, honestly,” Davido said.

He also compared the current situation with what he described as the state of the Nigerian music industry three years ago, when he claimed that several artistes could headline and sell out shows in London.

“Three years ago, at least 20 artists can come to London and do show and get sold out, but now I can count maybe four or five and we all know them. We can all see the shift,” he said.

Davido’s comments have sparked conversations about the changing global demand for Nigerian music and whether frequent international performances could be contributing to what he described as “see finish” among audiences abroad.
