Mr. Emmanuel Obasi, the former husband of actress Judy Austin, has responded to reactions that followed his emotional appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast, where he broke down in tears while discussing his failed marriage and relationship with his children.

Obasi became a trending topic after a clip from the interview showed him wiping away tears with a handkerchief while recounting his experiences. The emotional moment sparked mixed reactions online, with some sympathizing with him and others focusing on his display of emotion.

Addressing the criticism, Obasi said many people ignored the substance of his message and instead focused on the handkerchief he used while crying.

“Imagine your fellow man came out crying that he wants to see his children; you are busy looking at his handkerchief. You left the matter I am talking about and focused on the handkerchief,” he said.

The businessman explained that his tears were not about his former marriage but about the pain of being separated from his children.

“I am not crying for a woman. I want to make it clear. I have a wife. I am crying for my children, whom I have been trying my best to have a relationship with,” he stated.

Obasi also apologized for becoming emotional during the podcast, explaining that he had not intended to break down during the interview.

“I cry no more. I apologise for crying on that podcast. It is not my fault I was so emotional. I didn’t mean to travel from Onitsha to Lagos to cry,” he said.

According to him, his primary concern remains maintaining a relationship with his children, stressing that as their father, he has a right to be part of their lives.

“I am their father; I have the right to have a relationship with them,” he added.
