Grace Makun, wife of celebrity fashion designer Yomi Casual, has penned an emotional tribute to her husband as he prepares to bid a final farewell to his close friend, late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo.
In a heartfelt message shared ahead of Alexx Ekubo’s burial in Abia State, Grace reflected on the emotional burden her husband has carried while designing the actor’s final outfit.
According to her, Yomi personally took on the responsibility of ensuring his friend was dressed exactly as he would have wanted, despite the pain of knowing it would be the last suit he would ever make for him.
“My husband, Yomi. Alex is proud of you and wouldn’t have had anyone dress him up,” she wrote.
Grace revealed that Yomi repeatedly expressed concerns about getting every detail right, saying his late friend would have been upset if the suit was not perfectly tailored.
“You kept saying to me, ‘Babe, Alex go vex for me if that suit no come out well,’” she recalled.
She described the experience as the most difficult assignment of her husband’s career, noting that grief accompanied every stage of the process.
“Alex, how do you expect Yomi to heal from this loss? This is the hardest job he has ever done. This pain can never go away,” she wrote.
Grace further disclosed that Yomi visited the funeral home to personally present the well tailored suit that would accompany his friend on his final journey.
While acknowledging the immense sorrow surrounding the loss, she praised her husband’s strength, courage, and dedication in honoring Alexx Ekubo’s memory.
“You finally felt that sense of honour to see him looking so dapper in that suit one last time, even with so much pain and grief in your eyes,” she said.
