Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has expressed concern over the growing incidence of child abductions in the country, urging authorities to treat the safety of children as a national priority.

In a strongly worded statement, the entertainer lamented what he described as the normalisation of mass kidnappings, questioning how the abduction of dozens of children could become just another news headline.

Drawing comparisons with other countries, AY noted that the disappearance of a single child often triggers a coordinated national response involving security agencies, the media, and the wider public.

He stressed that kidnapped children should not be viewed as mere statistics or political talking points, but as individuals with families, dreams, and futures that deserve protection.

The comedian also highlighted the anguish of parents whose children remain in captivity, saying every passing day deepens their pain and uncertainty.

According to him, the protection of innocent lives must remain one of the foremost responsibilities of government at all levels.

AY concluded by lending his voice to families awaiting the return of their loved ones and called on authorities to intensify efforts to secure the safe release of abducted children.
