Following recent banditry and videos of totured kidnap victims making the rounds, Nigerian singer Spyro has stirred reactions online after questioning the silence of some of Nigeria’s most prominent church leaders over the current state of the nation.
In a statement shared online, the singer specifically mentioned respected clerics including Enoch Adeboye, David Oyedepo and William Kumuyi while expressing concerns about the worsening condition of the country.
According to Spyro, he finds it difficult to understand why people would continue attending churches where messages being preached do not address the realities and struggles Nigerians are currently facing.
The singer’s comments have since sparked conversations across social media, with many Nigerians debating the role of religious leaders in national issues, governance and social advocacy.
