The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has sealed all facilities belonging to Inner Galaxy Steel Company and Jiuxing Integrity Industrial Ltd over allegations of running a nationwide ring that vandalized and recycled stolen railway infrastructure.
The NSCDC said the operation followed the discovery of an organized network dismantling rail assets and converting them into commercial steel products worth billions of naira. Court orders were obtained to seal the companies’ headquarters, branches, and subsidiaries pending investigation.
Suspects face charges including conspiracy, theft, destruction of railway infrastructure, obstruction of rail operations, concealment of stolen property, and alleged support for terrorist activities.
Operatives from the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad raided a facility in Birnin Yero, Igabi LGA, Kaduna State, and recovered large quantities of railway sleepers and tracks allegedly removed from national rail corridors. The materials were handed over to the Nigerian Railway Corporation as exhibits.
Investigators said the stolen components were transported from multiple states to company facilities for melting and recycling into roofing sheets, nails, and other steel products. Confessions from arrested workers linked the operations to the firms’ headquarters in Aba, Abia State, and a hub in Tasha Rawayyah, Gusau, Zamfara State. Both sites have since been sealed.
The NSCDC said Chinese nationals linked to the companies’ management have been summoned for questioning but have yet to appear. Commandant General Ahmed Audi directed the Special Intelligence Squad to conduct the probe with “absolute diligence and professionalism” and vowed to prosecute anyone found culpable.
“Every single suspect found culpable in this bleeding of our nation’s commonwealth will face the full wrath of the law,” Audi said.
The Corps commended the judiciary for granting orders to preserve evidence and urged Nigerians to share intelligence on economic sabotage.
