In continuation of its onslaught against criminal elements accross the country, troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested two suspected criminals and recovered arms and other incriminating items in separate operations in Kaduna and Abia states.
The operations were conducted under Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and Joint Task Force South East, Operation UDO KA, as part of ongoing efforts to curb insecurity.
Operational report made available to newsmen yesterday, said troops of 2 Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base Dogon Dawa arrested a 32-year-old suspect, Ibrahim Adamu, during a snap roadblock at Damari in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
It revealed that items such as an AK-47 magazine, three mobile phones and substances suspected to be Indian hemp, were recovered from the suspect.
The report added that preliminary analysis of the suspect’s phone revealed photographs linking him to armed groups, including images of him in military camouflage holding a machine gun.
“In a separate operation, troops of 14 Brigade under Operation UDO KA arrested a 22-year-old suspect, Ifeanyi Ezebuiro, in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia.
“He was found in possession of a foreign-made Ruger pistol, which he claimed belonged to his late father.
“Both suspects and recovered items are in military custody for further investigation,” it said.
The Nigerian Army said the operations underscored its commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action and ensuring the safety of citizens.
It reaffirmed its resolve to sustain aggressive operations against all forms of insecurity across the country.
