The Directors Guild of Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the death of its n actor and Movie Director, Obi Kechere.
Kechere, who gained fame the early 200s for her role as “Miss Koi Koi” in the classic Aki na Ukwa, reportedly passed away on April 27, 2026, after a prolonged illness. News of her death, however, only surfaced publicly on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in what many might describe as yet another case of Nollywood keeping its tragedies under wraps until the final curtain call.
Her passing marks a significant loss to the Nigerian film industry, where she remained a respected figure both on screen and behind the scenes.
