Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has commended growing unity among political leaders in the state, highlighting the presence of the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, at state programmes as a symbol of harmony.
The governor’s remarks were contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, on Sunday in Kano. He spoke during a special prayer and Qur’anic recitation at the Government House, which drew 4,444 reciters praying for the state’s peace, unity, and prosperity.
Yusuf expressed confidence that the ongoing Kano Emirate dispute would be resolved amicably. He pledged to foster political cohesion, eliminate thuggery, and advance projects that directly improve citizens’ lives. He also commended the reciters for their dedication to the state’s progress.
Jibrin, in his remarks, praised the governor’s foresight in initiating the unity prayer programme and encouraged other states to adopt similar initiatives to promote peace and national cohesion.
Earlier, the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, urged residents to continue praying for the sustained development of Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.
The event underscores the administration’s focus on fostering political stability and civic engagement while addressing longstanding disputes within the state’s traditional and political institutions.
