The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, has called for an emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT), to hold today in Abuja.
Both Mohammed and Anyanwu were suspended by the party’s faction, led by Umar Damagun during its national convention in Ibadan last weekend.
According to a notice issued by Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the faction, the meetings will take place at the PDP national secretariat in Wadata Plaza.
The BoT is expected to meet first at 11 a.m., while the NEC session has been slated for 2 p.m. at the same venue.
The notice stressed that attendance is compulsory for all members, as “crucial matters” will be up for discussion.
Tuesday’s gathering will be the 103rd emergency NEC meeting of the party and comes just days after the PDP, at its convention in Ibadan, announced the expulsion of Wike, Anyanwu, and former Ekiti governor Ayo Fayose.
The sudden summons has added a fresh layer of intrigue to the internal power struggle rocking the party.
