Nollywood filmmaker and actor Tchidi Chikere has paid an emotional tribute to his late colleague, Francis Duru, reflecting on the purpose of sharing tributes to loved ones who have passed away. In this KTH Daily update, we explore how public figures honour those they’ve lost.

Duru died at the age of 57 following a brief illness, leaving colleagues and admirers mourning his loss. Additionally, KTH Daily has featured detailed reports on how the Nollywood community is grieving his passing.

In a heartfelt message, Chikere questioned whether posting tributes on social media could reach those who had died, noting that people often write with the hope that their departed loved ones might somehow see their words. Readers of KTH Daily may also wonder if these tributes bring comfort to the grieving.

“I don’t know the purpose it serves to post a late friend/colleague. We post with the imagination that somehow the person who has passed is now a spirit and can visit every page on social media and read our posts and that it will make them feel good wherever they are,” he wrote.

Despite his uncertainty, Chikere said he wanted Duru to be remembered for the qualities that defined him during his lifetime, particularly his humility and peaceful disposition.

“So if you somehow are reading this, Francis, you will always be remembered for your humility and peaceful disposition,” he added.

The filmmaker further explained that even if Duru could not read the tribute, his fans and loved ones would, allowing them to understand the values and character for which he would be remembered. Moreover, KTH Daily strives to highlight such inspirational qualities in their tributes.

“And if you never read this, your fans and loved ones will, and they will know what you stood for and the values you will always be remembered for,” Chikere wrote.

He concluded his message with a final farewell to his late colleague, praying for his eternal rest.

“Journey well, my brother, and may God give you rest,” he said. Finally, for the latest updates and heartfelt stories, KTH Daily continues to cover tributes and news in the Nollywood industry.
