Nigerian comedian Broda Shaggi has opened up about the frightening experience of being hit by a stray bullet while filming at the Sango Ota Bridge in Ogun State in March 2026.

The entertainer, whose real name is Samuel Animashaun Perry, shared his experience on his YouTube channel, recalling how he heard a loud bang before suddenly losing his hearing temporarily.

“All of a sudden, all I heard was a loud bang. Everywhere was silent. But I could still see people moving outside, people talking, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. It was just total silence in the car,” he recalled.

He said he touched his hip and noticed blood, realising that he had been shot.

“I didn’t want to die. I just don’t want to die,” he said, describing his thoughts as he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to the comedian, the first hospital provided first aid before referring him to another facility because it lacked the equipment needed to treat him. He was subsequently admitted to the emergency room at the second hospital.

Reflecting on his recovery, Broda Shaggi revealed that one of his biggest struggles was being unable to do the things he loved, including acting, dancing and singing.

“I feel very useless. While in the hospital, I could not act, I could not dance, sing or do whatever I loved,” he said.

He explained that he eventually returned to writing content and began working on a YouTube series, even as he battled fears about his career and future.

Watching videos of his colleagues sometimes made him laugh but also brought him to tears as he wondered whether he would ever return to his former life.

“I couldn’t imagine myself not being able to drop six skits in a month,” he said, admitting that he worried people might eventually forget him.

Despite the frightening experience and emotional challenges of recovery, the comedian expressed faith in God, saying he remained hopeful that he would not be abandoned.
