Air Peace has announced the appointment of Captains James Adaviruku Onipe and Ikechukwu Paul-Ugochukwu as its new Director of Flight Operations and Chief Pilot, respectively, as the airline strengthens its operational leadership.

The appointments will take effect from November 1, 2026, according to a statement by the airline.

Onipe, who has almost two decades of flying experience across multiple aircraft fleets, currently serves as Air Peace’s Embraer 145 Fleet Manager and Trainer/Check Airman.

The airline said his experience covers flight safety, crew proficiency, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance, areas that will form a key part of his responsibilities as Director of Flight Operations.

Paul-Ugochukwu, who has 22 years of aviation industry experience, currently serves as a Boeing 777 Type Rating Instructor and Check Airman.

In that capacity, he has been involved in pilot training, technical proficiency, and maintaining the airline’s operational standards.

Air Peace said the appointments were part of efforts to deepen its leadership capacity, develop experienced aviation professionals, and support its expanding operations.

The changes follow the elevation of outgoing Director of Flight Operations, Captain Augustin Kamano, and former Chief Pilot, Captain Martin Okunpolor, to higher positions within the Air Peace Group.

According to the airline, the promotions form part of a leadership succession programme designed to recognise experience, encourage career progression, and strengthen its management pipeline.

A handover process is expected to precede the assumption of the new positions on 1 November.

Air Peace said it would continue to invest in aviation talent and professional standards as it expands its domestic, regional, and international operations.

The airline congratulated Onipe and Paul-Ugochukwu on their appointments and expressed confidence that their experience would contribute to its flight operations and future growth.
