Babadunni Gbolabo, the personal assistant to late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, has recounted the distressing circumstances surrounding the singer’s death, revealing that the family visited between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan in a desperate attempt to save his life.

Speaking in an interview with BBC News Yoruba, Gbolabo said the singer had appeared to be in perfect health before he suddenly slumped in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

“There was nothing wrong with him before. He was in perfect health. He just slumped suddenly. And we tried all our best,” he said.

According to Gbolabo, he was not present when the incident occurred but rushed to meet the singer after receiving a call.

He explained that the family took Toluwanisings to several hospitals in Ibadan, only to encounter difficulties accessing medical care. Some facilities reportedly said their doctors were on strike, while others said they could not admit him.

“We went to up to 7 to 8 hospitals in Ibadan. We tried all our best with prayers too, but maybe God says his time is up,” he said.

Gbolabo added that the singer’s body was in the mortuary as family members gathered following his death.

Toluwanisings’ family had earlier announced his passing in a statement shared on his Instagram account, describing him as a beloved husband, family member and gospel minister.

The family has yet to disclose the cause of his death or announce funeral arrangements.
