Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has raised concerns over the circulation of fake products in Nigeria, warning that consumers could be exposed to serious health risks.
Kadiri expressed her concerns in a video while urging Nigerians to be more careful about the products they purchase and consume.
The actress specifically advised consumers to pay close attention to food, drinks, medicines and cosmetics, stressing the importance of checking expiry dates and NAFDAC registration numbers before making purchases.
According to her, consumers should not assume that products sold in the market are genuine simply because they are packaged or widely available.
Kadiri also called on Nigerians who have information about locations where counterfeit products are manufactured or sold to speak up and alert the relevant authorities.
She noted that exposing such activities could help prevent unsuspecting consumers from purchasing products that may put their health and lives at risk.
“Fake products are a threat to human life,” Kadiri said.
The actress further called on regulatory authorities to intensify inspections of manufacturing companies and take action against businesses found to be producing or distributing counterfeit products.
Kadiri urged both consumers and authorities to play their part in tackling the problem and protecting Nigerians from potentially harmful products.
