“Davido Is Probably Nigeria’s Most Influential Person Under 40” — Asa Asika Makes Bold Claim

Davido’s manager, Asa Asika, has described the singer as arguably the most influential Nigerian under the age of 40, pointing to his massive social media following and enduring popularity.

Speaking about Davido’s influence, Asika said the singer’s reach extends beyond music, arguing that he is among the most followed Nigerian artistes across major social media platforms.

“David is probably the most influential person from Nigeria below the age of 40, in my opinion. Some people will argue, but let’s use social media. David is probably the most followed artist on almost every social media platform,” he said.

Asika revealed that he often jokes with Davido about his influence, comparing the singer’s level of popularity to that of a Nigerian president.

“I joke with him all the time. I’d say to him all the time and he laughs about it. I’m like, you know, you’re the kind of like the president of Nigeria. And he’s like, ‘Leave me alone,’” he said.

The manager also reflected on some of the controversies Davido has faced over the years, saying he has often been surprised by the singer’s ability to recover from difficult moments.

“Some things I’ve seen David do, I’m like, if someone else did this, they will never ever get back from it,” Asika said.

According to him, there have been moments when he believed Davido’s career had suffered a major setback, only to see the singer return to the spotlight with little lasting impact from the controversy.

“Sometimes when I’m like, yeah, it’s over. I don’t know how we’re going to bounce back from this. And everybody wakes up tomorrow morning, like nothing happened. He is loved,” he added.

Asika’s comments highlight the level of cultural and commercial influence he believes Davido has built through his music, public profile and extensive connection with fans both in Nigeria and around the world.
