Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru has declared that she intends to become President of Nigeria before the death of her 92-year-old grandfather, businessman Gabriel Igbinedion.
Osawaru made the declaration while celebrating Igbinedion’s 92nd birthday, expressing her deep love and admiration for the businessman.
Describing her grandfather as someone who has become “sweeter and better” with age, the lawmaker said being around him sometimes makes her emotional because of how much he means to her.
“I promise you that I will be the president of this country before you die, amen in Jesus’ name. And I’ll make you very, very proud,” she said.
Osawaru also promised to keep improving herself, adding that she would strive to “do better, better, better every day”.
The lawmaker prayed for her grandfather to live long enough to celebrate many more birthdays, mentioning his 94th, 95th, 96th, 97th, 98th, 99th and 100th birthdays, and even praying for him to live to 150.
“I cannot live without you. May God bless you, my grandfather. I love you so much,” she added.
Her declaration has since drawn attention online, with Nigerians reacting to the lawmaker’s open expression of presidential ambition and her emotional tribute to her grandfather.
