Manchester United Denied by Late Maitland-Niles Strike

Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw away at Everton on Sunday by a 96th minute equalizer by Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Michael Carrick’s men went ahead twice but Byran Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko’s goals were cancelled by goals from Tyrique George and Maitland-Niles.
Mbeumo scored a brilliant solo goal one minute into the second half. The Cameroon international cut inside from the right and placed a left-footed shot from the edge of the box.
Everton restored parity in the 83rd minute when former Chelsea forward Tyrique George thundered his shot past United’s goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
It looked like substitute Benjamin Sesko had won it for United in the 88th minute.
The striker headed in Luke Shaw’s cross to give United the lead, but it was Everton’s substitute Maitland-Niles that decided the game with his moment of magic at the death.
The former Arsenal man who recently joined Everton from Lyon hit a first-time shot from 30 yards to preserve Everton’s unbeaten start to the season.
Maitland-Niles who joined Everton on Tuesday said it is amazing to start with a goal.
“It felt like a win,” Maitland-Niles told Skysports.
“It’s amazing, everyone wants to start off like that and thankfully I did. The ball fell to me on the edge of the box, I put my foot through it and it ended up in the top corner which I’m happy about,” he added.
Manchester United now have four points after three games, having lost their opening game against promoted Hull City and won 5-2 at home against promoted Ipswich.
Everton are on 5 points after three games and eight on the standings, while United lie in 11th place.
